We talk endlessly about skills gaps. The real shortfall is deeper — the transferable muscles that let people keep learning, adapting and leading through change.
There is a difference between knowing how to use a tool and being able to keep learning new ones for the rest of your working life. Skills are the visible tip; what sits underneath is harder to name and far more valuable.
When organisations frame transformation as a skills problem, they reach for courses, certifications and platforms. Important — but insufficient. The deeper work is helping people learn continuously, hold uncertainty, lead themselves and others, and stay well while doing it.
Over the next decade, the organisations that flourish will not be the ones with the most training hours. They will be the ones whose people can keep showing up — curious, grounded and able to move with the work.
